I am extremely happy to announce that golfing weather has arrived. The absolute best times here in Benson are the Spring and Fall seasons. Soon we will be complaining that its hot, but we’ll enjoy this balmy weather while we can.

As I write this [26 Feb] I am preparing to go to California for the Shepherd’s Conference at Grace Community Church. This will be the first conference without John MacArthur since he has gone on to realize his hope in Lord. The topic this year, in honor of John is, “Servant of the Word.” For 56 years, Pastor John dedicated himself to the study and proclamation of the Word of God. John’s steadfast defense of both the lordship of Christ and the sufficiency of Scripture defined his theological commitments and formed an approach to ministry that became an example to multiple generations of pastors around the world. I have considered John as a long-distance mentor over the years and will miss his teaching and quirky sense of humor as well as his direction.

I’ll be visiting my son, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren while in California. I know what you’re thinking, I look way too young to have great-grandchildren, but it’s true. So, while I’m away, please support those who sub for me with your attendance.

We have a particularly exciting announcement to make. On 28 March, Turning Point USA will hold a Town Hall meeting here at New Life from 10 to 12PM. Four of their representatives will be here, so let’s pack the house and support this organization that is working to change hearts in America.

Just today I had some time to finally watch the State of the Union address. I was most struck by the juxtaposition of the two political parties in our nation. We should expect those that represent us in Congress to behave as adults, but this seems too great an expectation for some. May God have mercy on us.

God bless.
