Praise the Lord, the bridge is open. And boy – has there been a lot of water running underneath it. I have always loved this time of year in southern Arizona. Monsoon season is special. We moved to Tucson during the monsoon season in 1960, and I remember staying in the Sunset Motel on the Nogales Highway [last time I looked at was still there]. Well right behind that motel there was a ditch and when we moved in there for about a week, I thought that ditch was a river [I was 6]. It rained every day that we were there. I thought it would run like a river all year long. Well, soon I would find out that that river was only a temporary thing. But I love the display of God’s sovereignty in the weather. Wind, rain, lightning – what a display of His majesty. Stay safe and be aware of your surroundings. Pomerene Road can be a challenge sometimes.
We continue to upgrade the property that the Lord has given us. The fencing around the new swing set in the “Ray Vidal Memorial Playground” is done and soon we will have our shade canopies in place. We’ve just installed a solar parking light in the westside parking lot. We’re still trying to tune it in properly so be patient with us; but boy does it put out some good light.
We’ve had another successful financial year so far. God has always taken care of us. I think back to our beginnings in the Cox’s home dining area; what now seems like a long time ago. We really didn’t have any idea what we were doing, but God did.
And yes – they’re here. AWANA has returned and the little “beavers” have returned. It’s great to hear the hustle and bustle of little feet in the building. As always, this labor-intensive program only works because you, as a church, are dedicated to it. Thanks!
It seems as if we have new people coming almost every week. Please make them feel comfortable and at ease. We have much to offer. Most importantly a commitment to God’s Word and desire to serve His Kingdom. Let’s have a great end of summer and start the fall on an upswing.
As many of you know, Nicki and I are building a home at 878 S. Ridge Place here in Benson. Just take Patagonia up the hill past the school and stay to the right. At the top of the hill, just before the pavement ends, there is a cul-de-sac on the right. We ask that you consider heading up there with a felt tip marker and writing scriptures on the house’s framing. We believe the symbolism of this is important. We have a Bible buried in the front entry to the house. God has always blessed us, and this is a home dedicated to His glory! Thanks, that’s enough for now. Be blessed and seek His will in all things.
